If you fancy visiting a historical location of a more specific type, you could travel a bit further around London and visit The Charles Dickens Museum. It is the worlds most important collection of material relating to Charles Dickens himself.
It is the only surviving house in London in which the great Novelist lived, and was opened to the general public as a Museum in 1925.
There are four floors to this building, filled with paintings, rare editions, manuscripts and even the original furniture. Not only that, but there is a great many items relating to the most popular and world famous personalities of the Victorian times.
It is open seven days a week, Monday to Saturday from 10am until 5pm, and on Sundays from 11am to 5pm. The price for one paying adult is only 5GBP, making this a great informative, and cheap, day out!
The easiest way to get to this great attraction is via the underground station, Russell Square on the Piccadilly Line.
